Hydrosols & Hydrolats
Hydrosols and Hydrolats: The Gentle Science of Plant Water
When you choose a product with hydrosols or hydrolats, you’re selecting the subtle, water-soluble magic of botanicals. These aromatic waters are the pure, co-product of steam-distilling plants, capturing both trace essential oils and vital hydrophilic (water-loving) compounds that are not found in the pure essential oil alone.
This results in a naturally mild, hydrating solution with a gentle, balanced pH that is incredibly kind to your skin. Because they are less concentrated than essential oils, they can be applied directly without the need for heavy dilution, making them perfect for sensitive skin, refreshing mists, and clean, non-oily cosmetic application.

Legacy Bar
Our Legacy Soap base formula is a simple blend of ingredients and a testament to the enduring power of classic ingredients. Each input is carefully chosen for the characteristics they imparted on the end soap product. We target a simple ingredient list so you know what your putting on your skin. Handcrafted with tradition and modern care, the Legacy Bar by Bee and Beaker creates a soap that is both luxurious and highly conditioning.
Inputs in our base formula : Organic Tallow, Organic Olive Oil, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Castor Oil, Distilled Water & Lye*
At the heart of our recipe lies tallow, a time-honored soap-making ingredient known for producing a rich, creamy lather that feels dense and incredibly nourishing on the skin. Its unique fatty acid profile contributes to a hard, long-lasting bar that rinses clean, leaving your skin feeling smooth and supple.
This is perfectly balanced with a generous amount of olive oil, an ancient beauty secret celebrated for its gentle and moisturizing properties. Olive oil helps to create a soft, mild lather that is kind to all skin types. Together, these two key ingredients work in synergy, with the tallow providing incredible creaminess and durability, while the olive oil ensures a mild, conditioning cleanse.
We use a smaller input of coconut oil and castor oil to create a bar that’s incredibly hard and long-lasting. The coconut oil gives it a sturdy structure and abundant bubbles, while the castor oil boosts the lather, making it wonderfully creamy.
*Lye is no longer present within the soap after saponification. Soap is made through a chemical reaction between water, fats, and lye this results in a chemical change of the input ingredients into a completely new compound — SOAP! We chose to label all input ingredients for transparency.
Bare, Essential, or Brilliant? Your Choice!
We have three soap lines, BARE {unscented}, ESSENTIAL, and BRILLIANT {micas used for a more vibrant color series}. While all Bare Bars remain unscented, the Essential and Brilliant line may utilize either essential or fragrance oils as labeled.
All of our soaps are designed with a carefully selected array of natural additives. In each small batch, we customize the formula by adding nourishing ingredients; liquids, like aloe, coconut milk, or carrot juice may replace the standard water input to give the soap a rich, creamy feel. Depending on the bar, we may also add beneficial ingredients like calendula or turmeric for their unique skin-loving properties.
For the Essential line, we can infuse input oils with botanical ingriedients like alfalfa, annatto, and beet root into our oils. Our Brilliant line incorporates the same level of formulation planning while adding vibrant colors for an eye-catching appearance!
